Licenses and Copyright Policy

Creative commons licenses

Open access articles in Advances in Agriculture and Biology (AAB) are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY) license. If you submit your paper for publication by AAB, you agree to have the CC BY license applied to your work. Under this Open Access license, you as the author agree that anyone can reuse your article content in whole or part for any purpose, for free, even for commercial purposes. These permitted uses include but are not limited to self-archiving by authors of published versions of their papers in institutional repositories. Anyone may copy, redistribute, reuse, or modify the content as long as the author and original source are properly cited. This facilitates freedom in reuse and also ensures that AAB contents can be mined without barriers for the needs of research. Authors are advised to check their funder's open access requirements, to ensure compliance. For more information about open access licensing, please see "Open Access Policy" on our journal website.

Copyright

Copyright is a type of intellectual property which protects certain sorts of original creative work, including academic articles. Copyright allows the creator of a work to decide whether, and under what conditions, their work may be used, published and distributed by others. As such, it governs how others can use, publish and distribute articles.

Copyright of the authors

Copyright on any open access article published by AAB is retained by the author(s). Authors grant AAB a license to publish the article and identify itself as the original publisher. Authors also grant any third party the right to use the article freely as long as its integrity is maintained and its original authors, citation details and publisher are identified.

After assigning copyright, you will still retain the right to:

  • Be credited as the author of the article.
  • Make printed copies of your article to use for a lecture or class that you are leading on a non-commercial basis.
  • Share your article using your free eprints with friends, colleagues and influential people you would like to read your work.
  • Include your article in your thesis or dissertation.
  • Present your article at a meeting or conference and distribute printed copies of the article on a non-commercial basis.

Copyright of the publisher

In our standard author contract, author(s) transfer – or “assign” – copyright to us as the owner and publisher of the journal. Assigning the copyright enables us to:

  • Effectively manage, publish and make authors’ work available to the academic community and beyond.
  • Act as stewards of your work as it appears in the scholarly record.
  • Handle reuse requests on your behalf.
  • Take action when appropriate where your article has been infringed or plagiarized.
  • Increase visibility of your work through third parties.
